EFPSA Academy 2021- Call for participants

Topic: Vision: finding meaning and purpose in work

Dates: 25.06.-27.06.2021

Location: Virtual

A three-day-long event for volunteers from any student NGO that is focused on the topic “Vision: finding meaning and purpose in work” this year.

What is EFPSA Academy?

The EFPSA Academy aims to bring European youth volunteers together to enable them to develop professionally, establish networks, heighten their motivation, and share experiences while equipping them with a variety of skills and knowledge around a changeable core topic.

During the Academy, participants receive high-quality training sessions, get the chance to attend workshops given by experts on the topic, and will be able to practice their skills on hands-on examples and real-life challenges.  The EFPSA Academy, being a training event, targets the skills of participants and develops them based on the EFPSA training values.

The EFPSA Academy invites students from different fields of studies deriving from different parts of Europe, producing an event with a diverse character. This vibrant mix of people and backgrounds creates an atmosphere that remains lively and highly engaging on both academic and social levels throughout the event.

This year’s topic is Vision: Finding meaning and purpose in work!

Vision focuses on the unknown to determine the future with facts, hopes, strengths and improbable points, dreams, potential challenges, and opportunities (Taiwo et al., 2016). Vision clarifies the direction that individuals or NGOs want to go by helping them reach out their goals, dreams, and hopes.  We will cover what vision means and how to use it in a volunteering environment. We will provide the participants with tools and practices to develop their own skills which they can implement in real-life settings. Our goal will be to give the volunteers tools and knowledge to be used back in their NGOs. All theories presented will be evidence-based and practised during the event so that participants can grasp the concepts fully.

Some examples of the session topics that will be held:

  • Value-based decision making
  • Ikigai
  • VUCA and Organisational Development
  • (Self-) motivation
  • Selling your idea: Advertisement
  • Stress Management
  • Self-reflection

As these are only some examples of possible sessions; exact sessions will be set by the trainer’s team after a conducted needs assessment on the participants.
