Sixth Postcard from the Board of Management 2016-2017

Six months have passed since the first Board of Management postcard, and we are excited to be presenting our sixth postcard directly from the Joint Executive Board & Member Representatives Meeting (Joint EB&MR Meeting) which is currently being held in the beautiful Fužine, Croatia. This Event marks the first half of the mandate, already adorned with several Events, new Task Forces, meetings, innovative projects and new Executive Board Members, amongst countless other activities from all the teams within the EFPSA Working Community.

Board of Management

Between 22nd and 23rd October the Presidential Office, composed of Clara Chetcuti and Nicola Falzon, President and Vice President respectively,  held a two-day Presidential Official Meeting in Bugibba, Malta, in preparation for the Joint EB&MR Meeting and the first Member Organisations Presidential Skype Meeting of the mandate that was held on Monday 24th October. The Board of Management, together with their respective teams have been in full preparation mode for the Joint EB&MR Meeting, holding various Skype Meetings, face to face Meetings, preparing presentations and workshops, among other duties and tasks.

Executive Board

Rebecca Xiberras, the Policy Coordinator is currently drafting two new EFPSA policy papers, while the EFPSA Office has sent out the first Internal Newsletter. The Events Office held a face to face meeting in Brighton, United Kingdom and prepared the EFPSA Joint EB&MR Meeting Working Sessions for the Organising Committees. Meanwhile, the Marketing Office has finalised the posters for the Journal of European Psychology Students (JEPS) and has been working on their new “Humans of EFPSA” project and on the EFPSA Day Video which will be shared during the upcoming Joint EB&MR Meeting. The Members Office has been analysing the eligibility of all delegates to vote at the General Assembly in the Joint EB&MR Meeting and working on several documents for Member Organisations. The Journal of European Psychology Students (JEPS) and the Social Impact Initiative (SII) teams have participated in Open Access Week through social media; JEPS posted various informative posts on their facebook page, while SII shared information on the EFPSA Open Access Week event. The Social Impact Initiative are currently organising trainings for the Mind the Mind Campaign Volunteers across Europe and developing a new project which will be announced shortly. The nominated Junior Researcher Programme Team (EFPSA JRP) have  two official documents for the perusal of the JRP research teams, namely the ‘Ethical Approval Guidelines’ and ‘Ethical Experiences’ to assist with process of applying for Ethical Approval. Last but definitely not least, the Training Office have been preparing trainings and team building sessions for the Joint EB&MR Meeting.

Member Representatives

The Member Representatives have been working on Study and Travel Abroad (STA) European Masters Databases and preparing themselves for the General Assemblies at the Joint EB&MR Meeting by reading the proposals and reviewing them with their Member Organisations. Furthermore, Member Representatives have been promoting EFPSA Calls from Organising Committees and positions within the Executive Board.

Task Forces

The Internship Task Force has been making significant progress and has started the process of collecting data from the EFPSA Working Community. Stay tuned for further developments from the team, who will soon be extending the data collection externally.

Calls

Until 31st October 2016 23:59 CET, JEPS is accepting applications for Associate Editors in Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, and Cyberpsychology. Applicants in Cognitive or Educational Psychology and applicants with expertise in qualitative research are also welcome to apply. Applicants must be presently pursuing a PhD degree in Psychology, have excellent proficiency in English, and experience in publishing scientific work. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a sample review. If you are interested, send your CV and a cover letter to journal@efpsa.org.
